"All art is but imitation of nature."
I have never fully considered myself an “artist”. The term itself has always had some notion of pretense about it for me. I have never set out to create work to be viewed and praised by audiences, nor I have ever aimed to create social change. Overall, I am not even sure if I could consider my productions as works of art. I am but an observer of the world.
The world to me is a medium in itself. Reality presents itself the greatest of gifts to me each day in the form of inspiring, creative material. The understanding of life as a flat and monotonous routine has never existed within my comprehension of reality both internally and externally. The simple movements of a person walking, the murmurs of conversations, and the emotional connections in which humans create exist as worlds of abstraction and expression in my mind. What may seem trivial to one individual in viewed as an element of art and beauty. Our world is constantly full of artistic possibilities.
My work as a filmmaker may come appear as socially conscious or inherently purposive in the footage and sequences I have created. I have often received responses of my work acting as a commentary on human nature from many of my peers. Although they may consist of these elements, my video work is never created with self-righteous intentions. My desire as a filmmaker is to display exactly what I see in reality, my unbiased perspective of the world. My work is never created to persuade or convince viewers of an idea or belief, specifically my own. As humans we are engulfed by emotion, social standards, expectations, aspirations, and the need for connection. I create as a reflection of the world we live in, as a reflection of my unique perceptions that many humans tend to overlook.
